Biography
Vanessa
Lengies got her start in Canadian television on such shows as Are You Afraid of
the Dark?, Radio Active, and Popular Mechanics for Kids.
In 2005, she co-starred with Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear in the comedy The
Perfect Man. She also plays a supporting role as the underage hostess in
Waiting.... In 2006, she was seen as a gymnast in the movie Stick It.
Lengies is fluent in French and English, and knows some Arabic. Her father is
German and her mother is Egyptian.
Vanessa Lengies began her professional acting career at the age of 9. Some of
her television credits included are she has lent her voice for several animated
characters. Lengies’ television credits include regular roles on the children’s
cable series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and “Sponk,” as well as a co-host
role on the science program “Popular Mechanics for Kids.” She also starred in
the cable film “Ratz,” with Ron Silver and Kathy Baker. Along with her
television appearances, Lengies has starred in a variety of animated series,
including “For Better or for Worse,” “Little Lulu,” “Tales of the Great Bunny,”
“Arthur” and “Calillou.” Vanessa stars as Roxanne Bojarksi – whose bold
eagerness to push the envelope and never-say-die attitude earn the star-struck
teen and her best friend (Brittany Snow) spots dancing on the popular “American
Bandstand” in NBC’s new drama “American Dreams.” Away from “American Dreams,”
Lengies divides her time between snowboarding, a love for arts/crafts and
redecorating, event planning, dancing and singing. When not shooting her series,
she lives in Montreal with her mother and father, where she has recently
completed high school.
Vanessa Lynne-Marie Lengies was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada on July 21,
1985. Ever since Vanessa was able to speak she wanted to act. She started
professionally acting at the age of 9, in which she did several family cable
shows. Vanessa has also done some voice work. Some of her credits include
Arthur, Are You Afraid of the Dark, and Radio Active. Vanessa was a co-host on
the show , Popular Mechanics for Kids, she was also a fan of the show before
becoming a member of the cast. Vanessa did her first movie (TV) in 2000 called "Ratz",
she was nominated a Young Artist Award for that role.
Vanessa's real "break" didn't come until 2002 when she auditioned for the role
of "Roxanne Bojarski" for a tv pilot called "American Dreams". She got the role
and the show was then picked up. Unfortunately the show was canceled in it's 3rd
season in 2005.


Vanessa Lengies has 4 upcoming movies, Arthur the Movie, The Perfect Man,
Waiting.., & Stick It. Arthur the Movie is animated and she provides the voice
of "Emily". The Perfect Man stars Hilary Duff and
Heather Locklear, Vanessa plays
Hilary Duff's best friend. The Perfect
Man is set to be released August 12th 2005. Waiting... is an independent film in
which Vanessa plays the role of "Natasha" set to be released in October 2005.
Just recently Vanessa landed a role in the new Disney sports comedy "Stick It"
expected to be released in theatres in late 2005 or early 2006.
