Kansas
City, Kansas, USA) is an actor, best known for roles on Felicity,
A.U.S.A., and Scream 3 (for which he was nominated for a Teen Choice Award
for Film - Choice Sleazebag). He has also had recurring guest appearances on
Scrubs playing Elliot Reed's boyfriend, Sean, and high school jock, Cliff on
Dawson's Creek. Beyond acting, he has tried his hand at both directing and
producing. He's directed one episode of Felicity entitled: "The Graduate,"
and was also the producer for his sitcom, A.U.S.A.. He got the role of loyal
and compassionate, Noel, on Felicity because they could not find anyone else
to play the character. Inititally, he had auditioned to play Ben, but the
role went to actor Scott Speedman instead.Already a world traveler due to
his father's work as an international banker, teenaged Scott Foley settled
in St. Louis, Missouri where he attended high school, performing in school
productions and community theater. After graduating, the determined actor
landed in Los Angeles, rented a small room and worked while taking acting
classes. Finally in the summer of 1997, the handsome, brown-haired Foley
hooked up with a theatrical agent, and his career took off. In 1997, he
guest starred on the sitcom "Step by Step" (CBS) and had a small role in the
ABC TV-movie "Crowned and Dangerous". The following year, he made an
impression in a recurring role on "Dawson's Creek" (The WB), playing
football quarterback Cliff, a contender for the affections of Dawson's
former girlfriend Jen. Foley also appeared in the TV-movie dramas "Someone
to Love Me: A Moment of Truth Movie" (NBC, 1997) and "Forever Love" (CBS,
1997). Next came a regular role in which Foley reached his widest audience
to date in the college drama "Felicity" (The WB, 1998-2002), playing likable
resident advisor Noel Crane, Felicity's friend and confidant who begins to
fall for the awkward college student.
After "Felicity," Foley saw his wife Jennifer Garner, who played one of his
love interests on the series, launched into TV superstardom on the hit show
"Alias," while he attempted to graduate to feature films. His first role was
in the successful if uninspired sequel "Scream 3" (2000), followed by a
smaller turn in the supernatural WWII submarine thriller "Below."
