Jamie Lynn Spears (born April 4, 1991) is an American actress and singer, and the younger sister of pop star Britney Spears. She is best known for starring in the Nickelodeon television series Zoey 101.

Biography

Jamie Lynn Spears appeared in 2001's Total Britney Live and in a Clorox and Pepsi commercial in 2002. She also starred in a number of commercials for Nickelodeon. In the same year, she appeared briefly in the movie Crossroads, as the younger version of the main character, Lucy, who was played by her older sister.  For two seasons, Jamie Lynn was a cast member on the Nickelodeon comedy-variety show All That.

Jamie Lynn Spears played a number of different characters, including an 84-year-old bodyguard Thelma Stump, who was the character that Spears portrayed in her audition for the program. She also did many "On-Air Dares" (a Nickelodeon version of Fear Factor) where she and other All That cast members had to do many "disgusting acts". Jamie Lynn Spears eventually left All That to star in Zoey 101, another Nickelodeon show aimed at a teen audience.

On Zoey 101, Spears portrayed Zoey Brooks, one of the first girls to pass admissions for a formerly all-boy boarding school called Pacific Coast Academy. Spears also sings the theme song for the show, entitled Follow Me, which was co-written by Emily Bob and Spears's sister, Britney. When the show debuted in January 2005, it drew a larger number of viewers aged 9-14 than any premiere on the network in the preceding eight years. Zoey 101 was nominated for a 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. In 2006, Spears won a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards blimp for Favorite TV actress.

In March 2009, it was confirmed via Spears' official newsletter that she was recording a country album due for a late 2009 release. She is currently unsigned at this time, but is meeting with labels. Jamie Lynn Spears reportedly recorded a cover of The Fray's You Found Me which may premiere sometime soon to launch her music career into the public eye.

Jamie is currently set to star as a lead in the upcoming sequel to the 2004 film Mean Girls titled Mean Girls 2. Although unconfirmed, this would be Jamie's first cinematic leading performance.

Jamie Lynn was born in Kentwood, Louisiana and has an older brother and sister, Bryan Spears, and pop singer Britney Spears. She attended school at Parklane Academy in McComb, where she was a cheerleader and was involved in other sports. She finished her education there via online correspondence  and received her GED in February, 2008. Jamie Lynn also has a daughter, Maddie Briann who was born June 19, 2008. Spears was engaged to Casey Aldridge, the father of her child, but allegedly called off the wedding in March, 2009. Jamie is still living with Casey. Jamie, Casey and Maddie currently reside in Liberty, Mississippi. Jamie Lynn's fiancé, Casey Aldridge was injured in a car accident in the early hours of Sunday, April 26, 2009. He was charged with careless driving.

Jamie plans to go to college. Once Maddie is old enough to be left with a nanny, Jamie Lynn plans on pursing a degree in business. Her mother Lynn is going to take care of Maddie when Jamie is at school.

Jamie Lynn Spears told OK Magazine, "I want to get my business degree. I could take online classes right now, but with Maddie being so young, it's hard to sit down and focus, I'm going to wait until she gets a little bit older, and she can stay with my mama while I go to classes. I do want to go to college and get a degree.
