Fall Out Boy Biography

Fall Out Boy is a four-piece band from the suburbs of Chicago, that formed in 2001. They started to achieve notable success with 2003's "Take This to Your Grave" (from the label Fueled By Ramen), with singles such as "Grand Theft Autumn (Where Is Your Boy?)" receiving airplay on FUSE and MTVU.

Fall Out Boy's members had been active in the Chicago hardcore scene, most notably with Pete Wentz doing vocals for Arma Angelus and Andrew Hurley drumming for Racetraitor. The lineup for Arma Angelus eventually turned into Fall Out Boy when the members grew tired of the extreme politics and repetitiveness of the hardcore scene, wanting something more melodic and accessible.

The band signed to Island Records in 2003 and, in May of 2005, released their major label debut From Under The Cork Tree (Island), which debuted on the Billboard charts at #9, selling over 70,000 copies in its first week. Their breakout single "Sugar, We're Goin' Down," peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their newest single is "Dance, Dance." "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" retired at number 1 on MTV's TRL. "Dance, Dance" is currently #1 at MTV's TRL.

Pete Wentz now owns a clothing company, Clandestine Industries, and Decaydance records, an imprint of Fueled By Ramen. Fall Out Boy has a good-sized fanbase and may have some staying power.
