Larter began modeling at age 13 with the world-renowned Ford modeling agency and traveled the world. At 17, Ali settled temporarily in Japan. In 1995, she accompanied her boyfriend in his move to Los
Angeles.
Soon after on the advice of a
friend, she began taking acting
classes.
In November 1996, she "played" the
hoax Allegra Coleman in Esquire
Magazine. Even after the hoax had
been revealed, its effects lingered,
and she was wooed by various
agencies. Larter landed her first
professional role in 1997 in the
television series Chicago Sons,
which was followed by a number of
other brief appearances on Dawson's
Creek, Chicago Hope and Just Shoot
Me. She is set to appear in
Southland Tales in late 2005.
